Formed in 1980, Elder quickly became an established presence in the distribution of engineering plastics.
1994 saw the acquisition of a high performance tapes business which in turn lead to a UK distribution partnership with Saint Gobain Performance Plastics and their Tygaflor tapes division. The success of this relationship resulted in opportunities for new products produced by Saint Gobain Performance Plastics being added to the distribution partnership.
2001 saw Rulon® introduced into the existing Elder portfolio of engineering and high performance plastics, tapes and rubber.
This was closely followed in 2002 by addition of the Meldin® 7000 series Polyimide range of semi -finished plastic materials. The introduction of both the Rulon® and Meldin® 7000 series product range into the UK was an excellent opportunity for Elder to service its customers with additional plastic materials offering the highest quality and performance levels.
Today, the Elder – Saint Gobain partnership has developed into Elder Engineering (Herts) Ltd being selected as a major approved Meldin®-Rulon® distributor throughout Europe.
Increased stocks of both Meldin® and Rulon® semi-finished materials will support Elder’s new opportunity to service and expand its customer base throughout the whole of Europe rather than solely the UK market.
Elder has considerable experience in the machining of both the Meldin® 7000 series and Rulon® product range as well as the comprehensive range of engineering plastics and high performance plastics that are already so well established in the UK. We would like to extend our machining and stock shape material service to all existing and future European customers.
